Marina premiered a new preview video of a track, called Fear and Loathing, off her upcoming album. Part Two of the video will be released next Monday at 4PM. The massive earthquake and resulting tsunami that struck Japan on the 11th of March have caused widespread destruction and suffering, relayed on television screens around the world.
More than 8,000 people have died in the disaster, thousands are injured and at least 12,000 are missing. Many people are living in evacuation centres as 14,000 homes have been destroyed and around 100,000 are damaged.
The costs of the relief effort, and of rebuilding the homes and lives of those affected, will be immense. Donations to the British Red Cross will be used towards helping the Japanese people recover from this devastating natural disaster over the coming months and years.

Marina and the Diamonds is auctioning some of her favourite items from her tour wardrobe to raise money to aid The Red Cross in their relief efforts in Japan.

The first item up for auction is Marina’s silver jumpsuit that she wore on her first British magazine cover. The magazine it is featured on is Company & was released in May 2010. Click here to bid on this.

The second item up for auction is Marina’s famous bunny cape she wore a lot in 2010. This was featured in one of her photoshoots with Rankin as well as being part of her tour wardrobe with NME. Any fan will tell you that Marina has a love for cheerleading/baseball jackets so her third auction means a lot. She has listed a vintage jacket that was used in some of her first Marina And The Diamonds promotional pictures as well a tour piece & being featured in a photoshoot by Rick Morris Pushinsky for Fly magazine. The new Bupa advert now on TV is using a song we will all be familiar with. They have borrowed Marina‘s critically acclaimed and beautiful song I Am Not A Robot but have changed a few lyrics & have a gospel choir singing it. I can’t help but feel it would of been even better if they used Marina’s version but it is great nonetheless. Watch it via YouTube above.

Last night in a much-hyped Katy Perry Facebook announcement she revealed her plans to tour America this summer. She is going to kick the tour off on June 7th in Atlanta and wrap it up in her home town of Santa Barbara on August 14th.
That isn’t even the best part. Amongst a lot of other important things Katy spoke about, including who looks after her cats, she also announced who would be supporting her on her tour. Katy will be joined by the incredible Robyn and… Marina And The Diamonds! The two girls are set to join her across America on selected dates which have still to be announced, so stick with us for any updates.

Katy joked during the webcast “It’s going to be super girl power. If you come to the tour, you’ll probably start menstruating.”

Welsh singer-songwriter Marina Diamandis has just wrapped up her debut Australian tour with her stage act Marina and the Diamonds.

She was scheduled to head to the US next for a run of shows there but revealed to triple j that there’s been a change of plans.

Actually I have cancelled my US tour to write because I have been writing quite a lot but it’s in a very fragmented way so I have about seven songs with just the verse. Great idea for a song, haven’t got a chorus yet…

Instead, Marina plans to be back in to the studio next week to start work on a new album, the follow up to her 2010 debut The Family Jewels. While that record has earned her fans all around the world, Marina revealed that she’s not content to just continue touring those songs.

I don’t feel satisfied at all. It was a really strong debut, it was exactly what I wanted to make but I have much greater plans and greater visions for myself. I love writing and that’s the most import ant thing.

The album is rumoured for an October release.

Melbourne is often said to have the largest Greek population of any city outside Greece. The Greek-Australian experience is in its third generation for some families and the two cultures are deeply intertwined.

However, for Marina Lambrini Diamandis, who performs as the successful British pop act Marina and the Diamonds, having a Greek heritage while growing up in the Welsh town of Abergavenny was a defining experience.

“I stood out in a good way,” says the 25-year-old, who has a Greek father and Welsh mother. “I do look and feel like a normal person but I do feel like I’ve been an outsider all of my life. I didn’t feel like I ever fit in anywhere because I didn’t; I lived in a Welsh village and I’d come from Greece when I was four. I’m very connected to my Greek side as I went there every summer, although I didn’t fit in there, either.”

That sense of separation, of looking at a world that doesn’t quite fit what you want yours to be, is also a fine preparation for someone pursuing the strange brew that is pop stardom. On her debut album, The Family Jewels, Marina offers autobiographical struggle and cultural criticism on a record that skips between electro-pop (Shampain), Alice in Wonderland esoterica (Girls) and new-wave clatter (Oh No!).

It’s catchy but never triumphant; Diamandis is less of a role model than a subversive presence, dissecting the consumer culture that has elevated her.

Marina, who announced yesterday via Twitter that she has become the new face of Max Factor’s Max Colour Effect campaign has spoke a little bit about the new project. She will be fronting their Big Night Out campaign, which is about encourage women to be more daring with their style before going out, by experimenting with colours.

I’m thrilled to be teaming up with Max Colour Effect – make-up should be fun. It’s about identity and I really want to encourage girls to be braver with colour.
My neon pink lip has become my signature – I have worn it for over 7 years. It’s part of my character! Colour is all-encompassing in my life; it allows us all to communicate our personalities and moods without having to use words.
