Last night Marina took to her Twitter account to discuss the recent cancellation of the US / Canadian ‘Burger Queen‘ tour. She confirms she had to cancel because of a prior commitments but assures us she will be back a few months later with a bigger and better tour.

Dear Americans + Canadians. Bad news. I am canceling the 1st American tour in Jan- Feb for recording commitments.

Good news: I am rescheduling a bigger tour for a few months later, including east coast and… south! Hey, Texas!! Dates announced soon. And there are so many South American diamonds now! I’ll come to you in 2011. Greece, Spain + Italy, also. And Asia, if I am lucky again.

I have done 124 tour dates this year & I feel so fortunate. Thank you to every person who bought a ticket, or The Family Jewels.

Marina’s latest single has broke the top 40 in the official UK charts this week. Even though Oh No! deserves to be much higher it’s still great to see Marina in the top 40. Make sure to promote the single on your Facebook & Twitter or any other social networking site you use. Lets aim for a higher position this week!

Dear diamonds.

Since yesterday’s nursing care voice mail debacle here, I’ve been having a think!

I was wondering if people would like to help me set up some kind of care system for elderly patients.

You know how many charities have schemes where volunteers visit an elderly person once a week? Well, I was thinking that, perhaps sometimes people shy away from doing that as a) you have to make TIME & EFFORT (sigh) b) travelling is inconvenient, and as human beings, we are inherently lazy. So.. instead of visits, volunteers could sign up to be a “phone-friend” to say, 2 elderly people. We could call it something like ‘Diamond Care’ and it would be run by myself and a group of diamonds (whoever wants to apply/ will be committed) who could help gather volunteers from our fanbase. Elderly people can sometimes go weeks without saying a word to someone and something as simple as a two x 15 min phone calls a week could enrich their lives greatly. Something so tiny for us is the highlight of the day for somebody who is ill & alone. We could have some kind of rota, so that, say if our database is made up of 100 diamonds, 200 elderly people will get a call that week.

Like most non-evil humans, I am all for charities & helping but the problem is that it is very easy to give money/ put an old ‘celebratty’ name to something but I don’t think it is always effective. So much money is unfortunately lost and frittered away, not through the charities own doing, but due to corruption, especially in war zones and places of natural disaster, as people are desperate. I would like to begin something and build it from scratch, with you, the diamonds. Perhaps we could create an organisation that is run exclusively by myself and fans and funded by different areas of MATD. It’s a long way off but I would love to hear your ideas and if you’d be interested.. Anyway, Have a good sunday!
